Who We Are
CreditUnionDirectory.ca is an independent Canadian website providing informational comparisons of Canadian credit unions. We are not a financial institution, mortgage broker, or deposit broker. For privacy inquiries, contact us at the address in the Contact section.
Information We Collect
Information you provide. We do not currently offer user accounts or contact forms. If you email us directly, we receive your email address and message content, used solely to respond.
Information collected automatically. When you visit, we automatically receive standard web analytics data including browser type, approximate location (country, region, city, derived from IP address), pages visited, session duration, referring source, and device type. We do not collect your full IP address in an identifiable way.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to collect aggregated data about how visitors use the site. IP anonymization is enabled. We do not use Analytics for remarketing or cross-site tracking, and do not share Analytics data with third parties. Data is processed by Google LLC on servers that may be located outside Canada. You may opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
How We Use Information
We use collected information to operate the site, understand aggregate usage, diagnose technical issues, detect abusive traffic, and respond to direct inquiries. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Third-Party Links
Our site links to credit union websites and other third-party resources. This Privacy Policy does not apply once you leave our site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites.
Data Retention
- Analytics data is retained for 14 months per Google Analytics default settings, then automatically deleted.
- Email correspondence is retained as long as needed to respond, then deleted or anonymized.
- Server access logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and diagnostic purposes.
Your Rights
Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy law, you may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. You may also withdraw consent to analytics through your browser settings or the Google Analytics opt-out tool. Complaints may be directed to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca. We respond to privacy requests within 30 days.
Quebec Residents
Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) provides additional rights including the right to data portability and de-indexation of personal information. Quebec residents may also file complaints with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec at cai.gouv.qc.ca.
Children's Privacy
This site is intended for adults researching financial products. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have done so, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
