Terms of Service
Effective: March 28, 2026 · Last updated: April 3, 2026
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using CreditUnionDirectory.ca. By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Not financial advice. CreditUnionDirectory.ca is an independent information and research tool. Nothing on this site constitutes financial, investment, mortgage, tax, or legal advice. Always consult a qualified professional and verify rates directly with financial institutions before making any financial decision.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the website located at credituniondirectory.ca (the "Site") and any associated services, content, or tools (collectively, the "Service"), operated by CreditUnionDirectory.ca ("we," "us," or "our").
By accessing or using the Site, whether by browsing, clicking, or otherwise, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Site.
2. Description of Service
CreditUnionDirectory.ca is an independent, informational website that:
- Aggregates and presents publicly available information about Canadian credit unions, including savings rates, GIC rates, mortgage rates, deposit insurance coverage, membership eligibility, and general operational details;
- Provides comparison tools, financial calculators, and educational content to help Canadians understand the credit union sector;
- Is operated independently and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any credit union, banking regulator, or government body.
The Site is an information resource only. We do not provide personalized financial advice, accept deposits, offer credit, broker mortgages, or act as a financial intermediary of any kind.
3. Financial Disclaimer
CreditUnionDirectory.ca is not a financial advisor, investment advisor, mortgage broker, insurance agent, or licensed financial planner. Nothing published on this Site, including rate comparisons, editorial descriptions, rankings, ratings, guides, or calculator results, constitutes financial, investment, mortgage, insurance, tax, or legal advice of any kind.
Rates, fees, eligibility requirements, and product terms change frequently and without notice. Information on this Site may not reflect the most current offerings. Always confirm the terms that apply to you directly with the financial institution before making any decision.
4. Accuracy of Rate & Data Information
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that rate and product information on the Site is accurate and current. However:
- Rates and terms can change at any time without notice. Information displayed may be out of date by the time you read it.
- We source rate data from publicly available sources including credit union websites, published rate sheets, and other public disclosures. We do not independently audit or guarantee the accuracy of this data.
- Promotional or introductory rates may apply only to new members, specific deposit amounts, or for a limited time. Such conditions may not be fully captured in our summaries.
- HISA rates displayed are typically the "standard" or "regular" rate. Bonus, promotional, or tiered rates may differ.
- GIC rates are subject to term, minimum deposit, and other conditions. Early redemption penalties may apply.
- Mortgage rates displayed are indicative only. Actual approved rates depend on creditworthiness, property type, amortization, and lender discretion.
- Eligibility information (including "open to all" status) reflects our best understanding at the time of data collection. Membership rules can change. Always confirm directly with the credit union.
- Deposit insurance limits and bodies are described for informational purposes. Coverage details may vary; consult the applicable insurer for authoritative coverage information.
We expressly disclaim any liability for decisions made based on information on this Site without independent verification.
5. No Endorsement of Listed Institutions
The inclusion of a credit union in our directory does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or approval of that institution by CreditUnionDirectory.ca. Conversely, exclusion from the directory does not constitute a negative assessment.
Ratings, scores, and editorial descriptions on the Site reflect our independent research and editorial judgment based on publicly available information at the time of assessment. They are not guarantees of quality or financial stability. Credit unions can experience financial difficulty regardless of ratings. All deposits at Canadian credit unions are subject to the limits of the applicable provincial deposit insurer, not CDIC, which only covers federally regulated institutions.
We are not responsible for any act, omission, product, service, or conduct of any credit union listed on the Site.
6. Advertising Disclosure
CreditUnionDirectory.ca does not accept paid placements, sponsored listings, affiliate commissions, or referral fees from credit unions or any financial institution. All editorial content, including rankings, ratings, and descriptions, is produced independently.
7. Intellectual Property
The Site and all its original content, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, page layouts, editorial analysis, financial calculators, comparison tools, site architecture, and software, are owned by or licensed to CreditUnionDirectory.ca and are protected by Canadian and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
